What is a Detox Anyway?

Detoxification is the process by which the body eliminates toxins from its cells. These toxins exist everywhere and can lead to health problems, drain the body of energy, and make your body more susceptible to disease and infection. Toxins concentrate in the brain, liver, and digestive tract. Since everyone is exposed to toxins in one form or another, it is most beneficial for the human body to detox on a periodic basis.

During the detoxification process, the body will feel worse before it feels better. During the first 7 days about 60% of accumulated waste is released. Typically this process takes about 7 days before your body starts to feel better, but again, this is a good thing for your body to eliminate toxins. The length of this process is highly dependent on how long your body has been abused with a poor diet and exposure to toxins. This process may be discouraging, but it is short lived, a sign that your body is healing, and well worth the effort.

While your body is going through this detoxification process, some of the possible reactions to detox may or may not include; increased flatulence, skin eruptions, thirst, runny nose, headaches, irritability, constipation, fatigue, weakness, diarrhea, cold and flu symptoms, and some other like symptoms.

The severity of this process is highly dependent on your past abuse and exposure to poor diet, caffeine, nicotine, sugar, and alcohol. If you have avoided these toxins, your detox process will most likely be mild to non detectable. Again, the good news is that the detoxification process is a sign that your body is becoming healthier, and each day is ridding itself of toxic waste that may have eventually brought pain, disease, and suffering.

Good news is that if the symptoms are severe, there are ways to speed up the process of detoxification. You always want to get as much rest as possible; your body needs all the energy it can get to rid yourself of toxins. Drink lemon water with cayenne pepper; this helps open up the your circulatory system and alkalinize (balance your pH levels) your body. Take E3Live available at Natural Foods+ Juice Caboose, do aerobic, resistance, and stretching exercise daily. Do not take over the counter drugs to mask your symptoms, the symptoms are part of the healing process itself.

These are some helpful ways to to speed up the process of detoxification and knowledge about the process. Of course, if you feel the symptoms are too severe, consult with your physician.
